It is different in the US, because we only have cell phone carriers, which don’t allow us to use VOIP through their networks (only wifi). The Federal Communications Commission pretty much controls everything here, so we have not been exposed to this technology as a service.
AussieRVP, you obviously didn’t understand what you just saw. VOIP technology has been around for a while and, yes, cell phones have been around for a while. But many companies tried to marry the 2 together and have failed & others have barely succeeded. I know b/c I’ve owned plenty of them. But that’s still not all that’s going on here in this clip. Here you see a TRUE VOIP Mobile phone which has Cellular capabilities, not the other way around. The functionality of this phone is unmatched.
VOIP enabled cell has been around a longtime now. Are these guys just new to telco or what?
